Trawnish Fishing lodge is set on the shore of Lough McNean in the west of the county of Fermanagh in Ireland. The attraction of Fermanagh lies in the tranquillity of its crystal clear lakes and surroundings, its rich historical heritage and wide choice of visitor attractions, and also in the friendliness of the people and that famous Fermanagh welcome.

Activities

There are activities in the area to suit all tastes, the Corralea Water Park is only 5 minutes drive from Trawnish Lodge, and can cater for many water sports and outdoor activities including canoeing, climbing and abseiling, caving, archery, surfing, cycling and much more.

In Fermanagh fishing is naturally one of the more popular activities for both visitor and locals. It therefore comes as no surprise that the day's catch often ends up on the dinner tables of the large variety of restaurants and eateries in the area.

The rivers and lakes of Fermanagh are plentifully supplied with fish and Lough Erne has claimed many world coarse angling match records. The trout and salmon fishing is also excellent.

Local areas of interest include Florence Court, only 15 miles away, one of Ulster's most important eighteenth century houses, Florence Court was built by the Earls of Enniskillen. Featuring fine rococo plasterwork, it has a 1780s walled garden and a tea room.

The Marble Arch Caves at Florencecourt are one of Fermanagh and Northern Ireland's premier visitor attractions. The rolling hills and spectacular scenery of this National Nature Reserve conceal a whole underworld of caves, waterfalls, passages and high roofed chambers. This hidden world is littered with geological treats and treasures lilke stalactites and calcite sheets.

The castle in the main town of Enniskillen, was once the stronghold of Gaelic chieftains the Maguires and later a Plantation Castle and Army Barracks. The castle has exhibitions on the Maguires and the natural and social history of Fermanagh. Special exhibitions are held throughout the year focusing on art and history.

The bustling town of Enniskillen has excellent facilities and pleasant restaurants and pubs. The Ardhowen Theatre has a very busy calandar through out the year and and is a fine example of the quality of entertainment available in Fermanagh.

The fine beaches of the Atlantic Coast are only 45 minutes away - perfect for walking, picnicing and, hopefully sunbathing. For the very brave, the coast offers excellent surfing.
